in the mountains of Aningalan...

...where you can find "tagimot" - these are wild berries...shaped like strawberries except for its color which is orange; tastes sour and hollow inside.

...where wild flowers grow in the summer...and where warm people are...it feels like coming home everytime i visit the place.

My first taste of taking photos (using an instamatic camera) was when i was 9 years old. My aunt asked me to come along with her during a wedding (where she will be sponsor) only to find out that i will be her "official photographer". I could still recall how she instructed me to take "perfect" pictures - hands steady, don't be ashamed to come near your subject. When the pictures were developed, i was glad these all looked ok. That is where i got the confidence to use the instamatic camera.

I got a "real" camera (an SLR) from my father when i was in first year college. I did not know how to use it then. my father had to go to a local photo studio and have a short orientation on how to use this camera which he then taught to me. and this is where my passion for photography began. i love to do portrait (as well as landscape) photography. i don't know how i came to appreciate this kind of photography. i just get so excited capturing different emotions especially that of children during their unguarded moments.

being a development worker assigned in rural/mountain villages gives me the opportunity to take pictures of children, their families, and their surroundings. i could not forget my first blooper in the mountain community where i used to work. i was so excited to take a photo of a child looking out of the window that i missed to ask for her permission. i was about to take her picture when she suddenly cried. poor little girl! it was careless of me not to ask for consent to take her precious pose in front of the camera. thank God, she was consoled after my apology and a candy (yes, i bribed her!).
